Rhythm Energy was founded in 2019 by former executives of larger Texas REPs and began Texas retail operations in 2021. The company is headquartered in Houston and positioned itself from launch as a digital-native, 100% renewable alternative to legacy Texas providers. The corporate structure is where Rhythm's strongest differentiation lives — and where the most honesty matters. Rhythm Energy is owned by Goldman Sachs through West Street Capital Partners VII, with the operating company structured as Rhythm Holdings LP. The page-relevant tension: Rhythm markets itself as 'the biggest independent green energy provider in Texas,' which is accurate in the sense that Rhythm doesn't operate within the legacy Texas REP umbrellas (Vistra/TXU, NRG/Reliant/Direct/Green Mountain/Cirro). It is independent of those brand families. It is not, however, independent in the broader 'small startup' sense — Goldman Sachs is one of the world's largest investment banks. Which framing matters depends on what 'independent' means to the customer.
